The party season is almost here.

This week starts the party season for us at Caverswall,

our first outing started on Sunday 27th November.

We had a trip to Harrowgate knitting and stitching show

arranged a few weeks ago. 9 of us all sat close together,

the atmosphere was calm on the way going as it was early 

morning start. The show was as big and exciting as always,

wonderful new products and ideas. Having bought most

 of what we went for , by the time to head home , we were

quite tired. The home ward trip was in its self quite

 an experience, there had been a suspicion of "iffy" driving

on the way up. The way back was even more traumatic,

resulting in a 4 hour journey home via Manchester airport.

I must say that back  roads from the airport are not the

 best way to travel in a bus with an "iffy" driver. A few

ladies at the back of the bus stated they had had a few words

of prayer, and a few Hail Mary's. We did arrive in tact so 

quite a day.

This is Jenny's cat quilt, now ready to quilt. This is for a guy
so the colours are just right,

This chequered Dresden by Marisabel has turned out
really stunning, my pic doesn't do it justice.

This plaited table runner is by Annette a really rich pattern
 choice.

Irene's apron panel from Jane's shop in Eccleshall
is a really simple quick make. I think she
held it back to front to confuse me. A very
nice seasonal apron.

This is another of Chris's table mats, with heat resistant
wadding, she has used a charm pack of Xmas designs for
the back.

I saw a pattern of Cathedral windows in the latest edition
of Patchwork and quilting. I didn't want to make a Xmas
one so used non seasonal fabrics. adjusted the design
to suit my needs, and left off the border. This worked out
quite well. So well in fact I have another in the making.

These lovely birds are a flannelette panel from Abakhan.
It's just as I bought the fabric, quilted  around all
the birds and the frames. Layered with a flannelette
backing to match. So beautifully soft. The last 2 pics
have joined last weeks things for the Biddulph
craft sale. 50% of the sale price Sam makes will
 go to Ruby's fund. A sensory center in Congleton.
Lastly, all the pillows the ladies have made for the
 cancer charity , were delivered to the lady last week.
These are to be gifted or sold to raise funds.

FRANTIC SEWING TOWARDS XMAS.

Now is the time for  all of us to gear up for the

 festive season. No matter how well prepared for

this occasion we try to be, until the shops

 actually close are we ever totally in control?.

This quilt is by Jenny, a lovely rail fence with a cat applique
this will be gifted .

Marion has made this tissue cover so very pretty fabric
and all edges bound with a lovely satin ribbon.

Chris's new baby grandaughter will be so cosy wearing these
festive boots, the rag book of the Nativity will be so nice
to keep, it was made in a short time , to be sent to USA today.

Chris had a Xmas charm pack in her stash, she didn't know
what to do with it so she made a table mat, using the
snow flake fabric. These can be used either way.

This magnificent throw , made by Kate , is hand crocheted
and each one of the "feathers" machine stitched down.
 As I've said before Kate's designs so unique.

Another of Kate's projects, a scrappy quilt for an new baby
in the new year.

Yet again a Kate project, a beautiful Liberty" Charlie " bag.

Lynda with a "Y" liked the Checkered Dresden last week
so she has started her own. Always so striking.

This bag, designed by the bag lady's at top table started
life as a skirt. Foxy had lots of help from Lynda to
make this. A stunning look to take shopping.

These tissue covers are so quick to make , and are always a
welcome gift to carry in your bag. These have been made
by Irene I thing for the hospital shop.

Val has brought this quilt in to layer up and finish.
Another one of her UFO'S. Designed as a kit , but Val
didn't like the fabric choice so she chose her own.

I must offer an apology I can't remember who has started this
lovely quilt. I think that it was Marisabel but i'm not
sure.

As we have so much space in the hall, we are easily able
to cut and measure large amounts of fabric. These are
Maggies curtains for her granddaughter

New lady Joey wanted to make a quilted cushion for her sister.
As a very experienced crafter she is embarking on sewing.
This was made using all scraps and went together so well.

Table runner now finished.

The charm pack from Malvern, cost £4-99. I added the gold and
the border print from my stash. A well liked runner .

These are Xmas gift tags embroidered and backed onto felt.
These are quite time consuming but I think well worth doing.

 stall at Biddulph Xmas fair . By my Grand daughter Sam.
Any thing that doesn't sell , will go as raffle prizes at Xmas party.

TABLE TOP SALE.

The table top sale on Sunday was  really good .

Lots of stalls and lots  of fun. We made £257.00,

for the village hall, with a little extra coming in

when we finalise the raffle on Monday night.

These are Val's fat quarter bag fabrics. All Japanese and
blending in so beautifully.

Another of Val's creations, A really smart cushion.

This is a Linus quilt that Cathie is making, This will go to a
 lady called Heather with some others we have already made.

Annette's blocks were all set out and photos taken
to save the placements, I went to photo for the blog
and this is all I got, so very quick these ladies.

Chris's spider quilt missed the Halloween deadline(pun)
never mind though, she quilted the back with a massive
spider web......creapy.

Marisabell has started the craze of felt Xmas decorations
We sent for some from USA ,I've started one for myself,
They are so very pretty and will last for many years ,
saved for Xmas.

More of the pillows for the Cancer centre, we will take them
as soon as the ladies feel we have made enough.

This is another of the checkered Dresden, This one made with
 a proper template that I bought from Malvern, not the one
 I made last week.That one was 22 blades and a larger
centre. Which I think I prefer. They say" necessity is the
mother of invention" in this case my version turned out
best.
