Baby Quilts

As you know we love to make charity quilts here at the village hall, our latest project is incubator quilts for the neo natal at the Royal. If you are interested in making them or need a reminder of the size they are 15" by 10" lets see some we have made :)


These beautiful quilts are what the wonder Wendy has created since last week!
 
 
and I did this one to add to the collection :)
 

Marian is working on these gorgeous snowman applique blocks :)
which she is planning to make in to two wall hangings
 

Jenny is doing a favours for a family member
and covering a seat for her trailer tent :)

 
These beautiful tissue holders and book cover were made by the very cleaver Irene
ready for the Stone Canoe Club Christmas fair
 
Cathy has been practicing her free motion quilting,
 
Margaret was cutting out blocks for her incubator quilt
 
Maureen was adding to her fabulous blue and white flower quilt  
 
and me,
 
 
I finished quilting my Charity Quilt.

Christmas Party Update!

We are changing the date of our Christmas Party at Caverswall so we can make sure everyone can make it  :)
The new date will be Wednesday 9th December Then the last day of the year will be the 16th :)

Linus!!!!

We were very busy today, and everyone was very excited to see the massive pile off quilts we had collected.


We had a grand total of  28 quilts!!!!
 
 
12 off these beautiful quilts are going to Linus

 
and 16 Quilts will be going to another fantastic children's charity
 
 
We have also been working on these gorgeous incubator quilts :)

Cathy is working really hard on her doggy quilt, she is planning to use
a stencil to quilt it :)

Christmas Party!!!!!!

Yes its that time of year again when Santa comes to visit, so that means party time!! last year we had two fantastic parties, one at Buffet Island and one at the village hall, as they were so super we are planning the same again this year, right dates for your diary.

Thursday 10th December    Buffet Island  (time to be confirmed)

Wednesday 16th December    Last day of the year and Party at the village hall

Wednesday 13th January 2016    Star date for the new year   

Sewing :)

This week Wendy announced we are going to have a 'mini' Linus Day next week! Wendy has been collecting all the Linus quilts we have been making ready to give to the lovely Heather, she is seeing her next Thursday so next Wednesday, the 30th of September is a great day to finish of  any little quilts you would like to donate.

Merilla is doing this fantastic piecing with these beautiful blues and whites
and she has done it all by hand!! :)
 
 
Cathy is still using up her scraps to make some cat quilts for charity :)

Wendy also brought a long some of her quilts to show us
ready for next week, this one is stunning!!!!
 
 
I had a play with these blocks a few weeks a go and Wendy finished
it off and quilted it, ready for next week :)

Irene always likes trying new things and this week is playing with these blocks with
 unfinished seams, very nice :)
 
Naughty Jenny and Marisabel ran off before I could get a picture of there projects!!
 I'll make sure I get them for next week!!!

Chickens!

Today we were very lucky to have Tracy with us today doing her chicken door stop workshop!
Here is Tracy's chicken she brought along to show us :)

 
Well we all decided it looked fantastic!! and we all couldn't wait to get sorted!!

Chicken door stop work shop!

Next week is our Chicken door stop workshop, on Wednesday 16th September 2015
 
Don't worry if you don't fancy making a chicken, everyone is welcome :)
but if you are making on, this is what you will need,
 
 
One 7"square of dark fabric
One 7" square of light fabric
Two 2 1/4" x 6 1/2" and two 2 1/4"x 8" in light fabric
Two 2 1/4" x 8" and two 2 1/4" x 10" in dark fabric
Two 5" square for the wings
Two 5" square for the tail (can be different)
6" zip
Two 11" square of wadding
Two 11" Square of backing fabric (it wont be seen)
Approximately a fat eighth of red fabric for beak, wattle and crest
Some bond a web
19" x 9" firm fabric for the inner bag
 
I cant wait to see all these chickens next week :)
