Busy day.

Another busy day ,lots to say . Lots to play with,
bags, blocks, applique , fun quilts and charity quilts.
Afraid to say, not too many pics, will do better.
This is one of Beryls charity quilts, 1 of four layered up
ready to quilt. These started as scraps just sewn into
strips, chopped up and re sewn. Really fun to do, I call
it' brain dead' sewing. Something to do without really
thinking. An escape into your own world, lets face it
we all need this type of thing sometimes . Many have
seen Beryls work and are doing the same type.

Marilla has started hand sewing more squares, we remarked that
all the shades go together so well, each one has a combination
of colours that match, so well chosen.

These are another selection of Linda's bag collection.
Note the beautiful retro silky lining.A lovely surprise
when you open the zip.

These are Irene's shoulder bags, really pretty gifts for
 a youngster in USA.

Another  of Linda's beautiful bags, fabric by  curtesy of
                                                                    the design shop.
This is a new block  started by Kate, a really clean looking
quilt in the making.

New toys!

Another lovely day (not sewing for me) just playing.
We have a new toy in class, a die that will cut out
shapes for applique. I know some people wont like
it but it is so much fun, as you will see later.

Val brought in a quilt that she had made, all the fabrics were
bought at Jane's shop in Eccleshall. A really lovely quilt,
the quilting was flowers and butterflies by Trading post.
Val was busy sewing on the binding, a beautiful gift
for Val's granddaughter.

This is the Brownie quilt that Marion has made.
All the squares have been drawn by the Brownies.

Marion has been looking at some of Beryls scrap quilts,
so she has been downsizing her stash. She came to sew
them together to use some of them up. they maybe made
 into pinnies.

Annette has made another wash bag, this is fabric
from The fabric guild. This one has been made
slightly larger and has a waterproof lining, you can use
shower curtains from the cheaper shops like B&M,
instead of yardage . We go to Fabric Guild sometimes
as it is so reasonable. We are trying to arrange a
trip there ,also to have a meal out . This will be payed
 for from our kitty.

These are the result of our new toy, its a die that will cutout
owls or houses. After a play around we decided that the easiest
way is to pre bonderweb the fabric pieces. Jenny made an
owl in shades of grey to finish off her quilt for a guy. The pic
I took didn't do it justice so a new one will be following.

These are another set of baby bibs for Jasmine, as she is
growing so fast I've had to increase the size from 11inch
to 12.5 and these are just right. 1st tooth has arrived,
just in time as she is munching fruit and veg now.

These cushions have been embroidered on my Husqvarnsa.
Just a change for our van.

Cooling off!!

Wednesday at quilting was quite a change from
the last few days, warm and eventually a really
heavy downpour. Just the right components for
a good sewing day. We had had a really good
day at the table top sale so we were all very
talkative. We totaled £255.50 towards the
decoration of the village hall. As we have an
open door policy we get lots of friends popping
in for coffee and a chat, All are very welcome
and we are grateful of their support, help,
and the donations for the raffles etc.
This is a good use of leftover scraps
an idea often used by Beryl. Linda has
really transferred a plain book into
something unique.
This is the beginning of a sewing machine
cover for Kate's grand daughter.
Almost finished, this bag along with a new
machine will be a really welcome gift.

These 2 bags are made by Irene, they will be gifted
to a little girl in USA. They are so pretty , they were
from a kit bought at Malvern.

This is the backing fabric for Irene's Darth Vader
quilt.

Chris has been designing her baby quilt,
this will be appliqued with hearts and
flowers. This is the 3rd quilt she has made
using seersucker fabrics. They are beautifully
soft and gentle, with lovely pastel colours.
This is a beautiful bag by Linda, fabric bought at
Malvern, the unusual webbing for the handles
was from Abakhan , it's 2 colours, brown
and black, co-ordinates really well.

This is my latest project, a quick lap quilt
for my daughters spare room. We have been
looking for a lemon set of bedding for  a while.
Not so "on trend" any more.
